Why Are The 49ers Called The 49ers?
In 1849 there was a Gold Rush on the West Coast of the United States and Canada. Many people traveled across the nations to pan for gold. These "Panners" were given the nickname '49ers' as it was 1849. Since SF is on the West Coast, the name 49ers seemed very fitting.
I'm having a really hard time locating an item of 49ers paraphernalia can you help me?
Since every city has different stores, I can offer a few suggestions. The first being to contact Pier 39 in San Francisco or at (415) 397-2027 or http://www.nflshop39.com. You can also try calling 1-800-PRO-TEAM or visiting http://www.proteam.com those are the two best places for 49ers merchandise and you should be able to get everything from them.
