Stokes had two receptions for 64 yards, after busting one loose for 51 yards. The often forgot about receiver however injured his knee on some great running after his catch. Stokes left the game, and Tai Streets stepped in two catch two passes himself (for 17-yards). Had stokes been able to stay in the game though, we may have finally seen what the 49ers, their fans and the media have been talking about since the departure of Jerry Rice. “Just wait until Owens has a compliment receiver opposite him”. We almost had a glimpse of an offense with two explosive receivers. It’s the closest this team has had to a formidable threat opposite Owens since Rice did leave the 49ers - and for a brief second, it made the offense look every bit as great as fans want to believe it is. Stokes had an MRI on his knee injury, results of test were a sprained MCL, Stokes remains questionable for the Seahawk’s game on Monday. The extra day of rest could be key in getting him back on the field, and finally brining another receiving threat to the team.
On Tuesday the 49ers also worked out three players. Two receivers, in Chad Luttrull and Milton Wynn, both of whom are extreme long shots to make the team. Cedric Scott a defensive end would be an interesting prospect, but also has only a very minimal chance of making the roster.
