Josh Shaw Still Not Practicing August 18 2002 By Bryan Hersh of 49ers Paradise THIS CONTENT IS COPYWRITED, REDISTRIBUTION OF IT (including copy/pasting it to a message board, forum or bbs) IS PROHIBITED AND COULD RESULT IN LEGAL ACTIONS - feel free to quote up to 1 paragraph providing a source link to http://www.49ersparadise.cjb.net is included Rookie defensive tackle Josh Shaw is still rehabilitating his MCL and ACL injured knee. The 49ers had hopes Shaw would be ready to practice with the team for part of the training camp in August but so far Shaw has not even wore pads. The defensive tackle has been seen running wind-sprints and working with skill enhancing equipment, but so far no real football. Shaw instead will continue strengthening his knee and weighting until the medical staff give him clearance to join the team.
The 49ers are by no means rushing Shaw to get healthy quick. They aren’t depending on him, and have eight defensive line sports pretty much filled already. Still they had very high hopes for the tackle coming out of college and would like him to contribute. If he isn’t ready for the season, the 49ers may place him on the injured reserve, making sure he will be ready to participate next off-season.
