49ers Safety Returns May 23 2002 By Bryan Hersh of 49ers Paradise The 49ers were very happy to see safety Tony Parrish in attendance at this latest mini-camp. Parrish - who underwent a procedure earlier this off-season to have a testicle removed due to a lump found on it, was ready to go on Wednesday. Dawning number 33, Parrish was all over the field, and even worried coach Mariucci by being a little to aggressive. Parrish stated that he felt “good all the way around” and that he was in much better shape than he thought he’d be in. Participating in the entire practice, Parrish reported no ill effects from the procedure. Parrish also did not report any problems with a groin injury that he had been nursing from last season.
The 49ers know that Parrish can be a huge contributor to the team. He’s working on getting into ‘football shape’ and learning some new terminology. Outside that, his latest showing in practice has given the 49ers even more optimism about his health. He should be able to pick up where Lance Schulters left off, becoming an integral part of the team’s defensive backfield.
