Tony Parrish, who played this past Sunday with a dislocated shoulder, won the NFC’s Defensive Player Of The Week Award. Parrish, in his 77th consecutive start had a career high two interceptions, defended two passes, and made two pass defendeds. The award was Parrish’s first in five years. It was Parrish' second honor of the week, winning the Ed Block Award, given within the every NFL organization to the player, that receives the most votes from his fellow players for exemplifying commitment to sportsmanship and courage.

Parrish’s performance was not the only inspiring one this weekend for the 49ers defense, which allowed just 257 yards. Julian Peterson made a case for his second award of the season, after playing every single position on defense against the Cowboys. Peterson was a runner up in the voting this week. The performance is the first time this season for the 49ers, where on player won the award, and another was a runner up.

The 49ers will be depending on these two players, along with the rest of the defense to rattle the Green Bay Packers in a key divisional game this weekend. The 49ers will be asking for a lot from a banged up defense, in order to stop the ever-potent Brett Favre.

Talk about it in the 49ers Paradise Forum
