Owens Won’t Compete June 30 2002 By Bryan Hersh of 49ers Paradise THIS CONTENT IS COPYWRITED, REDISTRIBUTION OF IT (including copy/pasting it to a message board, forum or bbs) IS PROHIBITED AND COULD RESULT IN LEGAL ACTIONS - feel free to quote up to 1 paragraph providing a source link to http://www.49ersparadise.cjb.net is included Well folks as 49ers Paradise predicted earlier this month, Terrell Owens will not compete in the USBL playoffs for the Adriondack Wildcats. The playoff tournament has already begun, and Owens was no where to be seen. Owens being a ‘no show’ could be a good indication that he has indeed reformed his ways. While Owens was likely cheering on his team mates, they pulled out a narrow 102-101 victory over Pennsylvania. In so doing they advanced to the semi-finals that will take place today.
Of course Owens staying away from the USBL does not mean he isn’t playing basketball. Owens uses the sport as part of his off-season conditioning program and likely is playing as he prepares for training camp. His willingness to put aside a dream and a goal of his to blend in better with the team is a very positive step in the rebuilding process of his relationship with Coach Mariucci. The ball is now in Mooch’s court (pardon the pun) to welcome Owens and to make a similar concession.
