And if you’re a 49ers fan, that’s a good thing. At this point in the off-season, an injury would likely not heal in time for Owens to participate in training camp, and depending on the severity of the injury, it could hinder him from playing during the season too. Staying away from potential injury activities is a very mature response for Owens, who is believe to be a ‘new person’.
Owens keeping away from a sport he loves, and the chance of winning a championship shows that he is serious about being part of the 49ers. His relationship with Mariucci is still not perfect, but certainly mature decisions such as these are a great way to re-build that trust.
