Owens was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct, which not coincidentally was also what he was fined for. The play came at the end of the game after Owens finally lost his cool. Owens was the subject of cheap shots and trash talk for most of the day.
The Giants were also fined, a total of $17 500. Two of their players, Shaun Williams and Omar Stoutmire were subjected to the fines.
