Newberry Almost Ready August 15 2002 By Bryan Hersh of 49ers Paradise THIS CONTENT IS COPYWRITED, REDISTRIBUTION OF IT (including copy/pasting it to a message board, forum or bbs) IS PROHIBITED AND COULD RESULT IN LEGAL ACTIONS - feel free to quote up to 1 paragraph providing a source link to http://www.49ersparadise.cjb.net is included Center Jeremy Newberry is almost fully healed from his calf injury. Until recently, when the 49ers signed Ben Lynch, the 49ers had no true back up at the center position. Newberry’s return will be a welcome one to the starting offensive line. Newberry has been working really hard to rehabilitate his calf injury, and the 49ers have been bringing him along at the typically slow pace. Although the injury was not that significant, it was troublesome and the 49ers wanted to be certain it would no re-occur, hence the pro-longed rehabilitation process.
The center has recently begun practicing with the team again. This past week Newberry also began participating in padded practices. He is not expected to play against Denver on Monday, but should be able to get back into the swing of tings the following week. Still the 49ers may continue to take it slow with him, and bring him back only for the final pre-season game.
