The 49ers have been hit by the injury bug since starting practice. Fortunately, most of the injuries have been minor, and the team is just being extra cautious. Jeremy Newberry is the team’s biggest worry. Newberry is nursing a leg injury, but has begun to walk and even runs in the under water treadmill.

Josh Shaw, Jamal Robertson and Derek Smith are working with the conditioning staff to get them back on the field as soon as possible Shaw may take until mid-August, but Robertson and Smith could be in action for the first pre-season game.

Tackle John Schlecht (back,) and receiver Donnie O'Neal (foot) remain on the physically unable to perform list. Both players, along with Jeremy Newberry will not make the trip to Osaka Japan.

John Keith has begun taking part in individual drills, but has not returned to fully practice with the team. Meanwhile, Anthony Parker tore his quadriceps and is out for the season.

Receiver Nate Jackson has resumed practicing, though his injured shoulder is still being nursed back to health.
