The seventh round pick agreed to a deal that included $29 000 and the league minimum salaries for each of the next three years. The 49ers have listed Heitmann as a guard and center, officially giving them a backup to Jeremy Newberry. The seventh round pick is virtually assured a roster position due to the lack of competition along the offensive line.
Heitmann has had a productive mini-camp. Most importantly he did not show any adverse effects of a stress fracture that was discovered during the NFL Draft combine.
