Don’t forget Garner October 30 2002 By Bryan Hersh of 49ers Paradise THIS CONTENT IS COPYWRITED, REDISTRIBUTION OF IT (including copy/pasting it to a message board, forum or bbs) IS PROHIBITED AND COULD RESULT IN LEGAL ACTIONS - feel free to quote up to 1 paragraph providing a source link to http://www.49ersparadise.cjb.net is included Playing the Raiders this week, a team with an offense full of weapons that include two of the best receivers of all time, in Jerry Rice and Tim Brown, and with a Pro Bowl quarterback in Rich Gannon it’s easy to forget about Charlie Garner, a former 49er who is currently the starting running back for the Raiders. Garner is an explosive back, he is fast, and can catch out of the backfield very effectively. He actually has a larger yards per carry margin than both the 49ers running backs, Garrison Hearst and Kevan Barlow who are averaging more than five yards per carry.
Garner is an explosive back who will be a factor in this game, especially with the 49ers linebackers hurting. The Raiders showed they know how to beat the 49ers in the pre-season, and likely will come with the same formula. The defensive backs will have their hands full guarding some of the leagues best receivers, but the team can not forget about Garner or they will pay.
