Deese Lightens It Up August 16 2002 By Bryan Hersh of 49ers Paradise THIS CONTENT IS COPYWRITED, REDISTRIBUTION OF IT (including copy/pasting it to a message board, forum or bbs) IS PROHIBITED AND COULD RESULT IN LEGAL ACTIONS - feel free to quote up to 1 paragraph providing a source link to http://www.49ersparadise.cjb.net is included Derrick Deese is known as one of the most versatile linemen on the 49ers. One of few remaining players who was with the team for its last Super Bowl victory, in the 1994-1995 sesaons Deese is a well respected player on the team. He also never fails to lighten the mood. During training camp this summer Deese has been all about loosening his team mates up from the stressful environment. Most recently Deese disrupted coach Mariucci’s press conference with a series of practical jokes. Too sidetracked to really accomplish anything, Mariucci invited Deese to take over for him, and went to sign some autographs. As coach, Deese immediately extended his own contract and gave himself a hefty raise.
Every team has their leaders, their jokesters and those who just fit in. Deese is both a leader and a jokester with the team. The chemistry he adds in the locker room is a big part of the player he is. But as soon as he steps on the field, he’s feisty and fearless.
