Though no formal announcement has been made by the club yet (who normally wait until they have most, if not all of their rookies signed before officially announcing the signings), it has been reported that Curtis has agreed to a three year deal that will pay him approximately $1.1 million including his bonus. Kevin Curtis is expected to make the roster as one of the 49ers back up safeties this season. He will be competing with John Keith and Al Blades for what is believed to be two roster positions. The 49ers however may opt to keep all three.
Curtis is a hard hitting safety who is versatile enough to play both the strong and free positions. The 49ers have done an excellent job with finding young safeties in the past and hope that Curtis will follow suit.
