They weren’t. But for the first time, the return team at least did its job. Jimmy Williams nearly broke two run backs for scores, but left the 49ers with some very good field position on both kick offs and punts. Jamal Robertson looks so quick and returning kicks too.
There was certainly a notable improvement for the special teams this week, perhaps the addition of Cornelius Anthony helped - but there is still a long ways to go before this unit is ready to contend with the big boys.
